Heliotrope scent distinguishes one of the most ornamental native azaleas, found from Pennsylvania south to GA and AL. Blooms from late May to August. White or pale pink flowers, often with a yellow flare, have long stamens and purplish-red styles. Mature height is usually well over 5', spreading to a broad clump.
