One of our most distinctive and attractive native perennials. The foliage is extremely fine textured, making "fluffy" mounds about 3 feet tall and wide. Small star-shaped blue flowers in clusters cover the plants in summer. Looks great used in large drifts; the foliage turns bright gold in the fall. There is a fantastic planting of this at the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania.
