CALYCANTHUS floridus
|
Description: Common Sweetshrub or Carolina Allspice. A great, trouble free native shrub with 2" deep mahogany red flowers in May and sporadically on new growth through the summer. Fruitily fragrant- smells like pineapple and strawberries! Our plants are vegetatively propagated from Anne's heirloom plant which IS fragrant, unlike some offered in the trade! Can grow 6-9' high and slightly wider in sun to part shade. Nice yellow fall color. Spreads by suckering.
