PRUNUS tomentosa "White Fruit"
|
Description: Want to grow your own cherries but don't have room for a tree? Try this. Early white flowers appear all along the stems of this densely branched shrub before the leaves. Tart, edible white 1/2" fruit make it a useful and pretty addition to the shrub border, hedge and/or for wildlife. Shiny reddish-brown exfoliating bark and dark green leaves complete the picture. This was brought to us by a customer who found it in her hedgerow of normal red-fruited plants. A different clone is advisable for pollination.
