PHILADELPHUS xlemoinei 'Manteau d'Hermine'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: pro. Lemoine, France
Description: A Philadelphus fit for a king! "Manteau d'Hermine" means "ermine coat" and was once reserved only for the kings of France. This 'Manteau d'Hermine' covers its arching shoots in deliciously fragrant, double, creamy-white flowers and mid-green leaves. On warm June evenings, the air is scented with the fragrance of orange-blossoms, thus the name of "mockorange". Compact and bushy, it will fit in almost any sunny border or garden where space is limited. A deer-resistant, low-maintenance deciduous shrub, it is also tolerant of urban pollution and salt-laden air.
