ILLICIUM parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Tony Avent
Description: Bright chartreuse evergreen foliage on this selection really glows. Found by Tony Avent as a seedling at a nursery in Florida, where it is a rare native endemic. Our stock plant and young propagations have shown good vigorous growth. We planted the stock plant outside last summer with a number of other species and selections to see how it performs here over winter this far north. I. parviflorum is considered the most sun-tolerant species, especially the cultivar 'Forest Green', but all are best in partial shade, and probably this variety especially so.
