Hybridized/Introduced By: Karl Flinck/Philippe de Spoelberch/Koen Camelbeke

Parentage: M. cylindrica hybrid (with M. liliiflora?) biondii?

Description: Gorgeous chalice shaped blossom of white are enlivened by flames of purple-red flaring up from the bases of, covering half the flowers. The leaves of 'Bjuv' are elliptic and have a bluish tone. Originally this was obtained by de Spoelberch as a cutting from Karl Flinck at Bjuv, Sweden. Flinck had received seed from Arnold Arboretum in Boston as M. cylindrica wild collected from China. The tree appears to be a M. cylindrica hybrid (with M. liliiflora?). Flinck himself believes the plant actually is a seedling of M. biondii. http://www.arboretumwespelaar.be/Bjuv.htm
