Description: A 2005 introduction by the Botanic Garden of Western Pennsylvania, was discovered in a ditch in Butler County, PA. This selection boasts pale lavender pink blooms rather than the common deep purple. Like the species, 'Icy Light' grows 6 to 7 feet in height and forms clumps of three to four stems within two years. The plant flowers in August and continues for 5 to 6 weeks. The cultivar’s name reflects the financial help of Joseph Piccirilli, vice chairman of the Pittsburgh Brewing Co., maker of IC Light beer. A beery nice plant!
