Description: Shorter and blooms earlier than Royal Catchfly, leaves are thinner and flower petals have notches (“pinking”). Brilliant red showy flowers bloom on stems rising above four-inch long basal leaves. A beautiful and showy native wildflower that does best in light shade in average well drained soil. A shockingly crimson flower found in dry open woodlands. This tough, heat and drought tolerant peren- nial is a favorite with hummingbirds.
