HEPATICA acutiloba
|
Description: Is a native perennial four to eight inches tall, growing in moist, shaded woods and blooming in February to April. The solitary long-stalked flowers emerge through the decaying leaves on the forest floor. The six to ten delicate “petals” are actually sepals that vary in color from white to bluish or pinkish. After the “petals” fall, many new dark green leathery 3-lobed leaves appear resembling the organ for which the plant is named. Full shade to part sun, moist but well draining soi
