Description: The name "Fireweed" comes from the fact that after a forest fire this plant will quickly colonize the burnt areas. The seeds remain viable in the soil for many years, when a fire or other disturbance occurs that opens up the ground to light the seeds germinate. The flowers are bright pink in spires that can be over six feet tall. Native throughout the northern hemisphere
