ILEX xmeserveae 'Honey Jo' aka “Gretchen”
|
Description: A sport of 'Blue Girl' with beautiful burnished gold highlights on the leaves. Color is brightest on new growth in partial shade. In too much shade leaves will turn green, and full sun will stunt its good looks. Was found in 1979 at a nursery in Mashpee, MA, by E. O. Mills. Originally named Gretchen by holly expert Bill Cannon for his granddaughter but never registered. Later it was registered as 'Honey Jo', for Jo Ann Gumbert, who was with Mills at the discovery.
