LEUCOTHOE axillaris 'Greensprite'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Mt Cuba Center/Dr Richard Lighty
Description: A great native groundcover that is quite shade tolerant and DEER- RESISTANT! It spreads slowly to form colonies of gracefully arching stems laden with lustrous evergreen green leaves and small white bell-like flowers in early spring. It is an excellent underplanting for rhododendrons, as it also thrives in moist acid soil and shade. 'Green sprite' is reportedly resistant to fungal leafspot. We received our stock plants directly from the intro- ducer, the Mt Cuba Center for the Conservation of Piedmont Flora in Delaware.
