LONICERA korolkowi var. floribunda 'Blue Velvet'
|
Description: A little-known addition to the short list of beautiful steely blue-leaved shrubs. Not a vine, this shrub has upright, arching branches adorned with fragrant, pale pink flowers in profusion in early summer, followed by attractive red berries enticing to birds. Resistant to aphids, which can be a problem on some honeysuckles, and also to deer and rabbits! Tolerates drought and poor soils as well. Introduced by the Cheyenne Experiment Station in Wyoming, it won a 1999 Plant Select award. Do not confuse with the edible, blue-fruited Lonicera caerulea edulis.
