Hybridized/Introduced By: Savage/Ledvina Parentage: (acuminata 'Fertile Myrtle' X 'Dark Diva')
Description: "A true scarlet red, an actual, primary color red, and not at all like the magenta, or secondary color of red/blue, so well represented among magnolia species and cultivars. The magnolia has 9-12 tepals approximately 10 centimeters in length that are very nicely proportioned. The inside of the tepals is a slightly lighter shade of scarlet red. The bloom time is intermediate to the bloom time of acuminata and sprengeri 'Diva' and thus avoids late spring frosts. The original tree is fastigiate and over 30 feet tall." D. L.. The late Phil Savage made the cross and Dennis Ledvina registered the plant in 2006.
