Description: One of the best selections on many counts: blooms heavily even when young; bracts ("petals') are wide and overlapping; very cold hardy; little bothered by canker; and is reasonably resistant to powdery mildew. Plant performs well under a variety of conditions and is somewhat slower growing than most. Introduced in 1951 by Henry Chase of Alabama. Recent genetic analysis shows this same as the cultivar 'Barton', somehow the two have become one, or is it one has become two?
