CAMELLIA 'Maidens of Great Promise'
|
Description: We were “blown away” by the stunning beauty of this camellia, and think you will be as well. The lovely double blooms are a luscious deep pink with a hint of salmon, rose-peony form, set off by glossy, green leaves. The compact plant is a vigorous grower and perhaps best of all, was one of the hardiest camellias tested in the Longwood Gardens trials. Yes, there is a romantic story behind the name! In the 1950's, Paul Bosley of Bosley Nursery in Mentor, Ohio (of Dexter rhododendron fame) gave several plants as a wedding gift to his daughter Patricia Bosley. Philadelphia area residents know Patricia as “Mrs Noah” because she and her husband “Captain Noah” starred in a long-running children’s TV show by that name.
