BUXUS sempervirens 'Elizabeth Inglis'

Size 6-10" - $25.00

Description: A serendipitous discovery from Michigan, where it had been propagated from boxwood sprigs used as decorations on a gift box of apples sent from New York back in the 1930's. Rich medium green leaves with a bluish cast and a billowy pyramidal shape make it a good choice for hedges, foundation plantings and background groupings. Unlike many boxwood cultivars, 'Elizabeth Inglis' tolerates direct sun quite well, and is quite cold-hardy. Growing in an exposed location at Frelinghuysen Arboretum in northern NJ, it got high ratings on resistance to leaf miner, appearance and ease of growing. Also resistant to boxwood psyllid and mites. 6 x 6 feet. Zones 5-8.
