RHODODENDRON makinoi
|
Description: This plant, if grown only for its leaves, would be a garden prize. The indumented leaves are lanceolate, long and narrow, and ar- ranged around the stems like the ribs of an umbrella. The new growth is covered with white tomentum and the plant habit is dense and rounded. The late blooming flowers are pink or rose pink which fade to white and are held in a compact truss. The overall effect is quite pleasing. This is a hardy species that does well in the northeast.
