RHODODENDRON makinoi
|
Description: This plant, if grown only for its leaves, would be a garden prize. The indumented leaves are lanceolate, long and narrow, and ar- ranged around the stems like the ribs of an umbrella. The new growth is covered with white tomentum and the plant habit is dense and rounded. The early-season flowers are pink or rose pink which fade to white and are held in a compact truss. The overall effect is quite pleasing. This is a hardy species that does well in the northeast.
