RHODODENDRON 'Edith Bosley'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Bosley Nursery Parentage: (Dexter/Bosley 1035 x Lee’s Dark Purple)
Description: Color is a strong purple in bud, opening deep reddish purple at the margins, shading through strong purple to strong reddish purple in center; with prominent dark red spotting on the upper lobe. The flowers are held in a slightly flattened dome trusses of 12- 15; each flower has an open funnel shape, with 5 wavy-edged lobes. Plant is bushy and compact; foliage is a dark matte green. Could this finally be the Eastern hardy answer to the tender Purple Splendor??? It’s promising—worth growing—needs a few more years before I pass final judgement!
