ACER palmatum 'Koto no ito'
|
Description: The name of this maple refers to the strings of the traditional Japanese zither. The reference being to the nearly thread-like light green leaves of the plant. Because of the fineness of the leaves, it should never be allowed to dry out and is best protected from hot summer sun. On older wood the leaves achieve the typical thread-like form, while on younger, more strongly growing wood, the plant will have the more palmate leaf shape that typifies the species.
