CORNUS alternifolia Golden ShadowsTM
|
Description: Brightly variegated leaves broadly banded with bright butter yellow have a dark green center. The name Pagoda comes from the highly ornamental, horizontal branching habit. A vigorous growing selection with the distinct horizontal tiered branching pattern. Fragrant, yellowish white flowers in flat-topped cymes are borne upright on the branch ends in May to early June lasting up to 10 days. Clusters of small red drupes appear in July and mature to bluish black in August to September. This selection of an attractive native shrub was a sport found near Chicago by Walter Stackman.
