It is the first true red, red, red compact Crape Myrtle. Shiny red buds open to cherry red flowers in July-August. The emerging bronze leaves turn dark green, eventually turning orange-red-purple in autumn. Leaves are highly resistant to mildew and Cercospora leaf spot.
