MAGNOLIA acuminata var subcordata 'Miss Honeybee'
|
Description: An excellent form of this native yellow magnolia with smaller stature, deeper colored, and larger (4 inch) flowers. It has been widely used as a parent of many of the new yellow magnolia hybrids. Selected by James Merrill Nursery of Painesville, Ohio, before 1972. Described by the late horticulturist J. C. McDaniel: “pubescence of leaves and shoots like typical M. cordata, but tree somewhat more vigorous; flowers larger, yellow.”
