CARPINUS betulus 'Nana'
|
Description: A rare dwarf hornbeam with a very thickly structured oblong or teardrop outline. Unlike most other forms it has no dominant central leader; it will instead exhibit an elegant network of small dense branches. The growth rate is very slow making it ideal for small spaces or a rock garden setting. The habit is so dense it looks like it has been sheared for many years. Medium green leaves are somewhat smaller than other selections and have yellow fall color. Hornbeams are blessed with very clean looking, pest-free leaves.
