SYRINGA vulgaris 'Charles Joly'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Lemoine
Description: Lilac lovers owe a great debt to M. Victor Lemoine of Nancy, France, father of the French hybrid lilacs. (And also in no small part to his wife, Mme. Lemoine, who actually made the breeding crosses up on a stepladder, due to her better eyesight and nimble fingers.) 'Charles Joly' is an "oldie but goodie," still one of the best dark purple doubles.
