BETULA pendula 'Golden Cloud'
|
Description: This rare form has beautiful butter yellow, unfurling leaves. Young shoots are reddish. In warmer climates, particularly in the mid to late summer months, this color will fade, helping to avoid foliage burn. Fall color is also yellow. Similar to the species but somewhat slower and smaller, 'Golden Cloud' tends to be fairly upright and pyramidal, especially while young, eventually growing to a medium sized tree of rounded to broadly pyramidal shape. Noteworthy scrolling and peeling white bark is similar to the species, and is quite showy especially in winter.
