Description: A clematis of the Great Plains that grows like a herbaceous perennial. It has a non-vining habit with stems emerging in a cluster. Thick, leathery leaves emerge in early Spring. Attractive 1-inch urn-shaped flowers with thick blue to purple petals, bloom in May. Like most clematis species, it can take several years to grow into maturity. A rare Great Plains native, this was the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum’s featured plant in 2000. | ||||
