RHODODENDRON keiskei 'Golden Globe'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Schannen Parentage: (selection of keiskei)
Description: This is a seedling grown from a plant originally nicknamed the “epiphytic form” by Berg, who found it on Yakushima and collected seed there. After selling this for many years we have decided to finally give it a real name. Berg said they never saw this form growing on level ground; only in crevices on cliffs, hence the name. We grew a large number of seedlings and selected a superior plant for propagation. Compact and husky, our 30-year plant is 4 x 5 feet and very floriferous with a large yellow flower. Takes sun and blooms at the end of April. Oh, and it grows fine in the ground.
