RHODODENDRON 'Nova Zembla'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: M. Koster Parentage: [(catawbiense 'Parsons Grandiflorum' x unknown) X (dark red hybrid x unknown)]
Description: Yes, we know; it is not a rare variety, but it is a reliable, proven performer. Perhaps the most commonly grown red in severe climates. It features very showy red flowers spotted darker, in well-filled, rounded trusses. Leaves have a distinctive twist. Even in a garden filled with rarities, I would want one or two 'Nova Zemblas'.
