MAGNOLIA 'Galaxy'
Size(s) available for nursery only pickup: Size 6-8' - $65.00
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: US National Arboretum Parentage: (liliflora 'Nigra' X sprengeri 'Diva')
Description: Introduced by the National Arboretum, the stunning deep reddish-purple buds of Magnolia 'Galaxy' open to pinkish-purple, bowl-shaped blossoms which are 10 inches wide with 11-12 tepals. The magnificent floral display in early to mid-April may last up to 6 weeks, depending upon weather conditions, but the real advantage of 'Galaxy' is its shape — strongly upright-pyramidal — making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens. Like most magnolias, 'Galaxy' prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Plant this "star" in your garden.
