MAGNOLIA 'Judy Zuk'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Brooklyn Botanic Garden Parentage: (acuminata X [acuminata x (liliflora x stellata) #477] # 491)
Description: Unique among yellow flowered magnolias, both for the unique color (medium yellow shading to pinkish-orange at the base of the petals), and the fragrance which has been reported as smelling like "Fruit Loops!" The candelabra-like branching displays the flowers to full advantage on a tree of medium size. We were saddened to learn of the death of its namesake, former Brooklyn Botanical Garden president Judith Zuk this past year. A fitting memorial to a great horticulturist!
