SYRINGA 'Red Pixie'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Max Peterson Parentage: (pubescens subs. julianae 'Hers' X meyeri var meyeri)
Description: 'Red Pixie' was selected by Max Peterson from among eight seedlings from a pod of S. julianae 'Hers'. The plant has the appearance of S. meyeri, but the star-like flowers are pink and intensely fragrant, opening from delicate ruby buds more like S. julianae. 'Red Pixie's branches grow more horizontally, like those of 'Hers'. As you might suspect from the name, it is a plant of small stature, able to fit in many smaller landscapes.
