SALIX nakamurana var yezoalpina
|
Description: Native to the mountain slopes of Hokkaido, Japan, this awsome little creeper will win you over. Leaves are rounded, to about 2 inches across. In spring, the new growth is covered with white hairs, giving the plant a silvery look. Creeps along the ground, or over rocks; the stems are thick for their length, lending the plant a miniaturized "bonsai" look. Appearing with the new growth, the 2 inch catkins contrast with the mahogany colored stems. Like most willows, it is happier in cooler climates.
