ILEX opaca 'Canary'

Size 15-18" - $25.00

Description: Circa 1942 Earle Dilatush from Robbinsville, NJ, set out to find the original tree of the wild growing yellow-berried holly near Bryson City, NC but no one seemed willing to take him to the tree. Later, he learned the reluctance of the locals was due to the location of a still near the tree. When he finally found it, the tree's branches intertwined with a red-berried one growing nearby. Earle thought it looked like a flock of wild canaries landed to feed on the red berries. Hence the name.
