COMPTONIA peregrina
|
Description: A unique native suckering shrub of the bayberry family for sunny, well-drained sites. The fern-like foliage is pleasantly aromatic, especially on hot days. It grows 2-4 feet high and spreads, but not invasively. We have it growing wild (native) on our nursery. Fixes nitrogen in its roots, so it’s well adapted to infertile soils. Would be a great plant for embankments.
