R. (AZALEA) DECIDUOUS canadense
|
Description: Treasured by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thoreau and generations of New Englanders, the native Rhodora flashes its purple blossoms before the leaves emerge. Found along cuts in woods and swampy areas, with twisted greyish branches. Rarely offered. Best in cooler climates. Not recommended for zones higher than 5 unless planted in a bog. R. canadense isn't really happy in a regular garden situation. It likes cooler climates and most importantly very wet conditions, ie bogs and swamps. If you do not have these condition, we do not recommend R. canadense and will not guarantee this plant.
