RHODODENDRON 'Maximum Roseum' compact form
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: (Unknown) Parentage: (probably a seedling of 'Maximum Roseum')
Description: This is not the straight native species maximum, (although Hank originally bought it as such). The foliage, flower, and bloom time are all similar to M R. so we believe it to be a dwarfer growing seedling of the hybrid 'Maximum Roseum'. The big difference is size. It is a lower grower and very bushy. We doubt this will ever reach 5 feet in 20 years. Flowers are lilac pink to white, foliage is dark green. See our listing for 'Max Roseum' for further comparisons. If you need a tough, hardy plant but smaller size, this would be appropriate . . . and it's a late bloomer.
