Hybridized/Introduced By: Dirr
Description: A rare new species from China introduced in the early 80’s. This, the first named clone was grown and named by Mike Dirr from
Arnold Arboretum seed. It first bloomed in February, 1997.
Blooming in early February, it is likely the earliest blooming
magnolia. Flowers are about 4 inches across, with purple-pink
striping on the outside, white on the inside, and very fragrant.
