ILLICIUM floridanum 'Alba'
|
Description: Small evergreen tree native to the Southeastern US. Grows upright, usually compact, 6 to 10 feet tall. Leaves are almost rhododendron-like. The whole plant has an attractive aroma, and deer leave them completely alone! Flowers are about an inch and a half in diameter. This variety has pure white flowers as opposed to the normal maroon-red. Like other illiciums, it prefers moist, well-drained, high organic matter soils in partial shade.
