HYDRANGEA macrophylla 'Hanabi' aka 'Sumida no Hanabi'
|
Description: The name Hanabi means "fireworks" in Japanese. This was discovered as a sport near Yokohama and named by Mr. Takeomi Yamamoto, currently the President of the Japan Hydrangea Society. It is a lacecap type with double white flowers. Each flower is held on a long stalk which arches over, creating the fireworks effect. We had purchased these plants last year as 'Fuji Waterfall', but Barry Yinger and some Japanese nurserymen visited last summer and corrected the identification. Thanks!
