Hybridized/Introduced By: H. Renken Parentage: (sport of 'Catabiense Grandiflorum')
Description: Some variegated plant fanatics will search the globe for new and different forms. That's how we acquired our original cuttings of
'Silberreif' from Germany. The variegated leaves of this variety are very prettily "embroidered" with a silvery margin around the edges. The name is an accurate depiction, as "silberreif" means "silver frost" in German. Often the leaves of variegated
rhododendrons are distorted, and the variegation is unstable, but this different variety has neither of these problems. Oh yes, and the flowers, you ask? They are the typical lavender-pink of the parent plant, 'R. catawbiense 'Grandiflorum'.
