Hybridized/Introduced By: Schannen Parentage: (yakushimanum X 'Catalode')
Description: This is not the 80-foot tall oak, but is a miniature Catalode rhododendron. The flowers are dome shaped white with a hint of yellow in the throat. Our own hybrid, this started out with the nickname "by the Pin Oak" and subsequently shorthanded to Pin Oak by another nurseryman who began to propagate it. Being half yakushimanum means that the rangy plant habit of Catalode has been compacted to be a low spreading plant with large dark green foliage.
