RHODODENDRON decorum 'Gable's Hardy White'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Gable Parentage: (seed collected in the wild)
Description: The fabled Joe Gable grew this from a 1930's China expedition, and it proved to be the only hardy seedling of those grown. Decorums from other sources are not as tough as this one. This is a well–clothed, but open grower; it eventually becomes a large plant. The leaves are a dark shade of green and the large flowers are white in an ever–so–slightly loose truss. The added allure is its wonderful fragrance and its mid to late May bloom time.
