SYRINGA patula 'Miss Kim'
|
Description: Grown from seed collected in Korea in 1947 by Prof. Elwin M. Meader of the University of New Hampshire. Registered in 1954. Often described as a dwarf, the original plant in New Hampshire is nearly 10 feet tall, but then it's over 50 years old! This excellent plant is slow growing, with a dense, rounded habit. It blooms heavily with very fragrant flowers which are described by Fiala as "very pale violet . . . with a lavender-bluish cast." Foliage colors up reddish maroon in fall, a bonus you don't get from most lilacs. 2005 Cary Award Winner.
