RHODODENDRON 'Northern Starburst'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: (PJM Group colchicine treated—probable tetraploid) Parentage: Mezitt/Briggs Nursery
Description: A “Franken Plant” in which the chromosomes have been doubled through the wonderful world of chemistry. Wow! If this is the result, give us more. Think of PJM on steroids: larger flowers (typical bright lavender color), heavier leaves, which are black in winter, and tree-like stems. It grows tighter, and slower than PJM and in a mound rather than vase-like. Hmm? Did we see some three-headed lace bugs feeding on those leaves?
