RHODODENDRON 'Super Nova'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Briggs Nursery Parentage: ('Nova Zembla' polypoloid)
Description: Briggs Nursery doubled the chromosomes of the beloved red 'Nova Zembla' in a test tube and—Voila!!—Another "Franken Plant." Whereas 'Nova Zembla' grows in an upright and open form (as it ages); its "Franken Child" is a handsome, compact, burly, thick grower. The flowers are about the same as 'Nova Zembla'—a tight conical red truss but the habit is very different. Tight and steroidal are words which come to mind.
