RHODODENDRON 'Pink Parasol'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Leach Parentage: (yakushimanum selection)
Description: 'Pink Parasol' is probably a sister seedling to 'Mist Maiden'
and was also introduced by David Leach. Its mid-May flowers
in tight rounded trusses, emerge pinker than 'Mist Maiden,' and
age to apple blossom pink and white. It has soft, bluish green foliage with heavy tan indumentum, and holds its leaves for four years, so it is always well-clothed. Although purported to be pure
yakushimanum by Leach, we believe this and others like it may
have a bit of smirnowii in them.
