RHODODENDRON 'Humboldt'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Seidel Parentage: (catawbiense hybrid of unknown parentage)
Description: . 'Humboldt' is an old German hybrid from the 1920's that has recently had a resurgence of interest. A heavy budder, this is a reliable grower that may even be hardier than noted. Blooms in the third week of May in large rounded trusses of pale mauve flowers, with show-stopping dark eyes. Foliage is matte dark green. Situated near the entrance of our four acre display garden, it causes comment from everyone, even when there are a few thousand other competing plants in bloom.
