RHODODENDRON 'Grace Seabrook'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Seabrook Parentage: ('The Honourable Jean Marie de Montague' X strigillosum)
Description: This is a truly stunning, early red rhododendron, one of the first elepidotes to bloom in our garden in early April. The large waxy flowers have been described as currant red to blood red, but we see them as a strong wake-you-up-in-the-spring red. The trusses of 'Grace Seabrook' are full and surrounded by large dark waxy green leaves which further enhance their color. Yes, it is less hardy than many of our offerings, but given a protected location in Zone 6 or warmer, it is a worthwhile gamble. Similar to 'Taurus'.
